Msty 1.2
We continue to bring exciting new features and improvements to Msty with the release of version 1.2. This release is packed with new features, improvements, and bug fixes that we believe will enhance your experience with Msty. Whether you're a researcher, writer, developer, or just someone who enjoys exploring the capabilities of AI, we're confident that you'll find something to love in this release.
Uncluttering your AI workspace
One of the primary goals of Msty is to provide a clean, distraction-free workspace where you can focus on your work rather than getting bogged down by unnecessary clutter. We were one of the first to introduce the concept of organizing your chat conversation into different folders. We then introduced the concept of Workspaces to help you organize your chats and data into isolated folders and sync them across devices. Ver. 1.2 brings even more ways to unclutter your workspace with the introduction of Vapor Mode, Context Shield, and a few more. Here's a quick overview of these new features:
- Vapor Mode: Allows you to create a temporary chat where you can experiment with different ideas without cluttering your workspace. Once you're done, switch the vapor mode off, and the chat will disappear as if it never existed. This is one of our first paid features, and we believe it will be a game-changer for many users.
- Context Shield: Helps you create a new context on the fly in the middle of a conversation so that new messages are not polluted by the existing context. This feature is available in both free and paid versions.
- Bulk Delete Conversations in One Go: You can now delete all the conversations in a folder in one go. No more having to select multiple conversations and deleting them by another click.
- Clear Chat: You can now clear a chat conversation without deleting it. This removes all the messages within a chat split.
Response Metrics
Being able to see metrics for your responses is crucial for understanding how well your AI is performing and this is something our users have been asking for. You can now see metrics for your responses such as:
- Estimated Total Cost: When available, the estimated cost of generating the response taking into account the number of input tokens.
- Tokens Per Second: The number of tokens generated per second.
- Time to 1st Token: The time taken to generate the first token.
- # of Input Tokens: The number of tokens in the input.
- # of Output Tokens: The number of tokens in the output.
For online models, you can also see estimated tokens count and tokens cost before even sending your prompt.
Now, this is what most of our users have been asking for and what most of our competitors have been offering. But, as usual, we went a step further and introduced Detail Metrics View. As we talked to our users about the importance of this feature, it started becoming clear that, yes, the basic view is helpful but what they were really using it for was to see how the metrics change as they tweak their prompts, models, or model parameters. So, we introduced the Detail Metrics View where you can not just see more information about the response, such as input parameters, but also compare the metrics with the previous response. This gives you a better understanding of how your changes are affecting the response and makes it very easy to experiment with different settings as well as do comparisons without going back and forth and without, maybe, opening Spreadsheet or a calculator do see the deltas. Please keep in mind that this feature is only available for Aurum users.
Font Styles, Quick Theme Tray, and Code Themes
We have added 3 new font styles - Everything Everywhere
, Galaxy Far Away
, and Home Alone
with unique combination
of the base font and a monospace counterpart.
For all the Aurum coders and developers that love Msty, we have also introduced a total of 48 new code themes. With
so many to choose from, we are sure that you'll find one that will become your default.
Going to Settings, changing themes and colors, closing it and then going back to the chat to see how it looks is an
awful and time-consuming experience. And this is against our principles. So we have also added a quick theme tray that
allows you to quickly switch the dark mode, font style, accent color, as well as code themes. You can summon this quick
tray by hitting CMD/CTRL+SHIFT+T
. This has already become one of our favorite shortcuts in Msty, and we are confident
that you'll love it too.
LaTeX support!
For our math enthusiasts, we have added LaTeX support. Any equations in LaTeX format will now be rendered properly (as long as the model outputs it in correct format). This is just one of the many free features we have included in Msty this release.
Licensing Changes
Until now we had two licensing models - Commercial and Aurum. Commercial allowed you to use Msty for professional and commercials usage and that was confusing for users to understand what meant commercial and what not. Aurum license on the other hand was one time payment option that gave users access to early builds. To be honest, both of these licensing models turned out to be a bad decision on our side. On one hand, this was confusing, created more work for us, but more important held back new releases for new users to try out new features, enjoy improvements, and remove frustrations caused by bugs. Instead of this helping us ship faster, actually slowed us down, and we absolutely hate this and, if you know us, purely against our ethos and how we function. So screw that!
From ver 1.2 we have converted commercial license to Aurum Annual License with a price increase and existing Aurum license is now called Aurum Lifetime License with price increase for it as well. Instead of holding back releases, we decided to unlock some features only to Aurum license users, whether annual or lifetime. Existing users should see no difference, their license should migrate automatically, and are grandfathered in to new tiers for their early support (thank you!). This new licensing models should motivate us to move faster and ship some crazy wild unique ideas that our competitors can only dream of.
Even though we have updated our licensing model and introduced paid features, our commitment to having Msty available to everyone remains the same. We will continue to provide a free version of Msty with all the features that you need to get started with Msty. We will also continue to add new features and improvements to the free version as well.
These are just some of the highlights of what's new in Msty 1.2. We've also made lots of other improvements and bug fixes, so be sure to check out the full release notes for all the details. We hope you enjoy using Msty 1.2 as much as we enjoyed making it, and we can't wait to hear your feedback!
